TANK INTERIOR DESIGN & BRANDING AGENCY ‘DAVID LEWIS’ CENTRAL STATION
Brief
TANK completely renovated the 550sqm Amsterdam office space of David Lewis Production, one of the leading DJ booking offices in the world with clients such as Armin van Buuren, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano.

Concept & Interior design
David Lewis Productions, located in Amsterdam, New York and Hong Kong, recently renovated its headquarters in Amsterdam. TANK translated the DJ agency’s creative and innovative way of working into a dynamic work and meeting place, incorporating ‘central station’ elements such as rough steel, concrete and metro tiles into the design. Travel-like features such as runway lining on the floor and a flight case framing the DJ booth, refer to the on-the-go nature of the company while comfortable leather sofa’s and elegant wooden details ensure all temporary residents feel right at home.
David Lewis
David Lewis founded his company in 1995, aiming to create an innovative and dynamic DJ agency, offering professional service to all clients. World class DJ’s like Armin van Buuren, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano and Sander van Doorn are just a few names the company includes in its present-day roster of internationally celebrated talent. However, as the DJ industry grew, so did David Lewis Productions, and the Amsterdam based office no longer represented the forward thinking and modern character it has today.
Concept & design
David Lewis’ DJ’s and personnel are true globetrotters, so the new office had to emanate that on-the- go nature yet at the same time offer a home-away- from-home to those that regularly, or occasionally, touch base in Holland’s capital.
The complete interior with bespoke presentation furniture fits perfectly with the company’s international and innovative character. It showcases a variety of design snuffs such as lighting in the shape of zebra crossings covered by a subway style block roster and window frames shaped like steel pillars like on a train platform.
TANK also designed the custom made tables using wooden beams coated with epoxy (resembling railway ties) and industrial steel framing.
The whole space is executed in black, gray and white tones, giving a couple of interior elements the chance to really stand out. For example the world map in the main meeting room, where all DJ’s are ‘pinned’ to their current location, and the super green plants surrounding the entire office space. Special tanned barn wood covers one-third of the walls, completing the office with that homey touch.
TANK’s Tommy Kleerekoper and Sanne Schenk: “To us David Lewis is a central station-like place where DJ’s, personnel, visitors and friends come together, meet and take off again. Entering the office you immediately see the interpretation of this theme in the logo, displayed as a metro sign. Music, obviously, is leading so we opted for a travel case DJ booth as a centerpiece with an equalizer graphic image on the adjoining window. The whole concept really comes together offering a stunning contrast thanks to all the materials and furniture used.”
