Vitra Grand Sofà is Antonio Citterio’s interpretation of luxurious comfort and contemporary design. The Italian flair for lightness and elegance of the designer is combined with the quality and precision typical of the Swiss company Vitra. The geometrically clear shapes of the generous elements of Grand Sofà form expansive seating and reclining platforms.
Thanks to their construction, they appear filigree and light: a slim, double-angled, fabric-covered body forms a cascade-like seat, backrest and a rear ledge.

The Grand Sofà shows a slender silhouette from every perspective and seems to float above the ground. Together with a matching coffee table, it forms the centre of the room. Thanks to the open formulation of Grand Sofà’s body and the space it creates, it is possible to sit against the sofa from behind and use the fabric-covered ledge, for example for small work on a laptop. The Sims is also suitable for storing books, magazines and accessories. For objects such as glasses, bottles or vases, it can be used with
a matching sofa tray, angled at the ends. Conversely, the sofa tray can be placed on any horizontal surface of the sofa as a base. The various elements with invitingly generous seating areas and the different cushions allow a variety of individual sofa compositions.

With the selection of back cushions – with feather-down or feather-latex mixture – both loose and classic-strength configurations can be designed. The mix of decorative cross-stitch seams on the body and restrained felled seams on the cushions is an expression of the manufactory’s idea and illustrates the high-quality workmanship of the Grand Sofà.
