Jimmy Woo in Amsterdam

This club competes with the best in the world with its strict door policy, exclusivity and famous visitors including international celebrities such as Brad Pitt, Mick Jagger and George Clooney, to name a few. Above all, the interior design will keep you entertained.

A few years ago, the club was completely renovated. The theme is a mix of Los Angeles 80’s rock, complete with lots of brown cork decorating the walls, suede sofas, authentic Persian rugs and antique cabinets behind the bar. The famous Amsterdam bar owner Casper Reinders worked closely with his good friend Thijs Murré and, amongst other things, they’ve decorated the front of the bar with skeletons and a large showpiece lamp hangs above the central staircase.

Thijs Murré draws inspiration from foreign cultures, film, art and photography. He describes himself as “an interior design artist, constantly looking for new things to the point of obsession”. In an interview with Residence, he’s quoted as saying “Sometimes I go completely mad and lose the plot, for example if I walk around a flea market in Paris, I’m constantly thinking ‘I need to do something with this’ or ‘I have to remember this.’ Amongst the clutter, I might find a wooden or antique object and I try to imagine what it would look like in an enclosed space.”
