El Pinton in Seville by Lucas y Herndández-Gil Architects

Written by Stella Peeters in

It’s almost a sin wanting to add something to the wonderful historic architecture and courtyards of Seville, Spain – they are inherently beautiful.

Lucas y Hernández-Gil Architects accepted this challenge and created restaurant El Pinton with a fresh, modern look for the typical Sevillian courtyard, filled with strong presence of traditional architecture. It shows the original structure as artlessly as possible, including the raw texture of the walls.

A large part of the decoration consists of the simple strength of materials, textures and light, the authentic character is strongly emphasized by the courtyard in the heart of the restaurant. The connection between inside and outside is underlined by stylish garden furniture, lanterns, plants and, of course, light-absorbing dust.

The furniture and other interior items are light, surprising and a mix of different materials. Besides their own designs, Lucas y Hernández-Gil Architects used accessories and furniture of Fernob, Magis and Driade. The lights are from Marset and &tradition, as well as some handmade designs.
