There is much more to Wolfsburg than just shiny new cars, as you can discover at this amazing eat-in bakery by Autostadt Servicehaus. As well as fresh organic bread and rolls, the bakery Das Brot sells hot snacks and sandwiches. All food is created by hand, and from dough to finished bread you can see everything being made through the window behind the sales counter.

The interior of the bakery was designed by Munich agency Designliga, who started from the concept ‘from field to table’. Traditional craftsmanship is the essence of the design. A real stand-out feature is the floor. It incorporates a mosaic made from 25000 tiny pieces of tile, showing the whole bread-making process from grain to bread. The furniture and fittings are also traditionally-made.

You will probably be reminded of a mediaeval timber-framed building. The roof over the long central table gives a homely feel to the dining area. Timeless traditional quality is the overall theme of both the food and the ambience.
